Do you have any tips for a young artist wanting to get into animation/character design?
Best tip I learned from my teacher, Corny Cole, is to have a sketchbook and draw whenever and whatever you can around you. Draw your friends, family, people around you, draw your room, table, pencils, etc. The important thing is to learn how to open your eyes and observe life! I would even go as far as that being even more valuable then going to any art school or reading any art book. A sense of curiosity, pen and paper, and the world is all you really need~
I know I don’t often post notes but I really need to say this because I keep nearly seeing spoilers from Frozen! I blacklisted it but some of you guys that I’m following still aren’t tagging Frozen posts and I’d really appreciate it if you did because you need to remember the film has not come out in England yet. Not everyone that uses tumblr is from the US, so not everyone is going to have seen it.
Last year, I did this post listing 2013’s animated films, and I’m doing it again for 2014’s lineup! Pixar and Illumination Entertainment (The Lorax, Despicable Me series) will be skipping this year, unfortunately, but there’s still tons to look forward to!
